Excessive

Another Thanksgiving is done. I'm sitting in my kitchen, smelling the cans of tomatoes warm up on the stove, listening to the rustling of the drying leaves as the wind pushes its way through the tops of my trees, covering my nice lawn with leaves that I'll enevitablly have to mow over with my lawn mower, and I'm attempting to relax.

I'm sitting down and watching 1997's Anaconda, a semi-bad to actually bad monster-flick style film that I had watched at least once when I was younger and the movie was fairly new, and I knew it was bad back then too. I had recently listened to it's <a href="http://filmsack.com/">Film Sack</a> episode (#156) and their discussion made me want to watch it. I also listened to a similarly themed episode on Congo, which was from around the same time, and I remember having seen it once, but I don't remember it and from the sound of it, the effects don't hold up and it may be amusing to watch.

I've had a bit of a rougher day than normal, or so it feels at the moment. I've felt above average anxiety, I've felt weak, I've tripped and fell, metaphorically speaking. I had a pizza for dinner tonight, like one from backdoor pizza, and I didn't think I was going to have one for a long time. I kind of feel like I've failed, but I convinced myself it was a reward for wanting it for so long and being strong enough to hold off. I also spent a bunch of money on materials needed to make my own beef jerky, and I feel kind of like a fool now, and I will do it, and see it through, I'm worried it won't turn out properly and I'm just worried.

I've been playing Final Fantasy XIV lately, as I found myself drawn to the gameplay of an MMO, and since it's kind of a downtime in World of Warcraft, I thought giving Final Fantasy XIV another shot was a good idea. As a side-effect, I also got Ally playing, and then Bekki playing, and then Kurt playing. I may have created a monster, now that Bekki plays the game more than I do, and I can see the concepts of the MMO are starting to sink in to her. She understands how to min/max dps and how to recognize bad players.

I've tried to redesign Excessive Rambling multiple times in the last year or so. Pretty much starting when I got my current job as a primarily Laravel developer, I wanted to bring all the advantages of using Laravel into the Excessive Rambling system. I think I've started the project four times and this is the only time where I've made any significant progress. I have a habit of diving in too deep and eventually losing interest as I make progress too slow.

As you probably noticed, the site looks different! It's also got a new address! Yes, I have moved the site to a new server, I have rebuilt the entire website from scratch, and I'm using it as a tool to motivate myself to write more.

Tidus. Tidus was a super-cuddly, attention seeking, loving and stubborn Russian Blue cat. I got him 12 years ago to this day, May 23, 2003, and I have loved him and appreciated him every day since. Today, May 23, 2015, he died, and I had to sign the paper saying it should be done.

Thoughts flying through my head.

Why do I love my wife? Four out of five days dishes disappear and re-appear clean in the cupboards without question. I don't have to think about how or when it was done. I can complain day after day that my head hurts, or that I feel sick or that I can' breath and she never tells me to shut the fuck up. She may get tired of it, may resent me for it, but she never shows signs of it.
